Hockey, Love It!!

There are many reasons to love this game.  Here is one of mine.  For $2:50 an hr. my 1st job was as at an outdoor rink.  I was 13.  What excitement!! I got to play hockey all day, all nite.  When the fun was over we would flood the ice with an old rubber fire hose, often it was minus 25 degrees Celsius.  At this temperature water shoots from the end of the hose and hits the ice with a tonne of momentum and freezes on contact!  Steam everywhere!  It was magical the ‘cold smoke’, backlit brilliantly by the floodlights, vanishing into the night, leaving behind a fresh new sheet of ice!  What possibilities, not just in hockey.
And so the playoffs are here, a new beginning, what stories might unfold??  Here is a video, done a few years ago.  A highlight package from the book ‘Hockey and High Heels’ that my friend Lisa Ovens wrote.  Another great story and reason to love hockey.  I took a number of digital stills and used graphic’s from Lisa’s book.  My friend Martin Halle then created the animations and we cut the vid. A POOF is a PlayOff Only Fan and yes Lisa has a suggestion for the parade route.
